In 2016, in addition to his many other craft items, Lone Wolf launched a line of women’s purses under the label, “Spirit of the North.”  All purses under this label are designed and created by Lone Wolf using the simple tools pictured below.

Certain designs are always available while others may be one-of-a-kind or limited editions.  His purses now “live” as far west as California and as far east as New York.  His first international sale occurred in 2018 when one of his purses took up residence in Tokyo, Japan.

It should be stressed that no automated equipment is used in the production of these purses.  All are hand-laced, rather than machine-sewn, for added strength and durability, and all fringe is split by hand using simple shears.

Tools of the Trade

Lone Wolf will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have concerning these products.

Spirit of the North purses are the creations of Native American crafter and artist, Lone Wolf Dancing on Thunder, a member of the Mackinac Tribe of Ojibwe & Odawa Indians.

Each Spirit of the North purse is made completely by hand using simple tools:  leather shears, a hand-punch, and a leather-crafting needle.  All holes are hand-punched, and each strand of fringe is hand-split using simple leather shears.  For durability, every purse is laced together rather than sewn.  Decoration may slightly vary from the photos depending on availability of materials.

In addition to the standard purse models shown, a number of one-of-a-kind purses are available as well and are marked as such.
